International Journal of Marketing and Distribution (IJMD)
Extended Submission Deadline of Extended Abstract: 29th May, 2020
Japan Society of Marketing and Distribution (JSMD), a GAMMA member association, is the longtime publisher of the leading Japanese-language journal in Marketing and Distribution, Journal of Marketing and Distribution (JMD). In order to broaden the reach of its members’ research to a global audience JSMD recently established a journal in English, the International Journal of Marketing and Distribution (IJMD). As one of the tie-up journals of GMC, IJMD is inviting submission of papers on current issues in marketing and distribution in Japan.
With the increasing globalization of academic research in recent years, marketing researchers across the world have been pursuing marketing theories that are universally applicable. On the other hand, the diversity of firms, consumers, and local environments have also led to the recognition that marketing phenomena are sometimes market-specific and that theories may need to be adapted to make them valid for specific markets. Japan has introduced various country-specific contributions and innovations to the fields of management and marketing, such as the Toyota production system, the convenience store distribution system, conveyor-belt sushi restaurants, Japanese customer service, and various aspects of its unique consumer culture. Some of these topics will be featured in a forthcoming special issue of the Journal of Marketing Channels. Marketing and distribution in Japan have dynamically evolved over time and remain topics of great interest for marketing scholars and practitioners.
What are the characteristics of Japanese marketing and distribution today? IJMD is inviting contributions which answer this basic question. Topics include but are not limited to:
Marketing strategy and implementation in Japan
Distribution system in Japan
Marketing performance and metrics in Japan
Japanese culture and marketing
International comparison of marketing and distribution between Japan and other countries
Sustainability, social responsibility, and ethics in Japan
Public policy and macro-marketing in Japan
Japanese consumer behavior
Industrial marketing in Japan
Retailing and shopping behavior in Japan
Advertising and marketing communication in Japan
Pricing strategy in Japan
Social media and digital marketing in Japan
Marketing research in Japan
Product strategy and branding in Japan
Marketing channels in Japan
Service marketing in Japan
Submission to IJMD consists of two steps.
(1) Oral presentation submission
Authors should submit an extended abstract or a full paper to ‘2020 JSMD-GAMMA Joint Symposium: Current Issues in Marketing and Distribution in Japan’ of the 2020 Global Marketing Conference at Seoul (Track co-chairs: Tomokazu Kubo <firstname.lastname@example.org> and Akinori Ono <email@example.com>), no later than May 29th, 2020 via the following link: https://2020gamma.imweb.me/22.
For submitting your manuscript, you need an EasyChair account. Submission guidelines can be found on the ‘2020 GMC at Seoul Homepage’: https://2020gamma.imweb.me/. All papers will undergo a blind peer review process for the oral presentation. Review results will be decided and announced by June 30th, 2020.
(2) Journal paper submission
Authors those who have been accepted for the oral presentations and who have made oral presentations at the GMC conference are entitled to submit manuscripts to the IJMD issue “Current Issues on Marketing and Distribution in Japan”. However, all submitted articles will undergo a double-blind peer review process coordinated by the IJMD Editorial Board.
